Teaching Labor History is a self-paced course for educators who want to bring the story of American workers into their classrooms. Across ten topics, you’ll explore the labor movement and working class from the Colonial Period to the present. Topics include early systems of labor, the Gilded Age, the Great Depression and New Deal, the World War II and Cold War era, public sector organizing, immigration, and the global economy. You’ll read primary and secondary sources, watch films, and reflect on how each period connects to your standards and your students. Along the way, you’ll build two lesson plans and share them with a colleague for feedback. No prior background in labor history is needed. Read more
